Are you a babysitter in San Jose? Then I am sure your clients would prefer that you are certified in CPR and First-aid in case of an emergency. Also a lot of the time, the clients are willing to pay for your certification since they know how important CPR training can be. We receive a lot of questions about the minimum age a babysitter must be in able to take a class in our Santa Clara County classroom. I recommend over 10 years old since at that age, the babysitter would be strong enough and large enough to perform good deep CPR compressions.
You would need to take 2 Classes: Heartsaver CPR/AED, and Heartsaver First-aid. Some babysitters are only trained in CPR which is not a good idea. Babysitters should also take the First-aid Training class which covers poisoning emergencies, broken bones, bleeding control, choking, seizures, and other life threatening child emergencies.
