American Heart Association Heart Walk in the Bay Area
The American Heart Association has organized a campaign called My Heart My Life to get Americans moving. It calls on the Bay Area community and their employers to create a culture of physical activity and wellness so that we can live longer, healthier, and happier lives. The American Heart Association has organized 5 events in the San Francisco Bay Area to raise money in order to fund research and education.
Participants can choose between taking a one mile walk or a three mile walk. Dogs on a leash, strollers, bikes, and roller bladers are also welcome at these events. The American Heart Association wants people of all ages to come on out to these events so please spread the word. The walks are held rain or shine.
Prior to the event, the American Heart Association will provide a small healthy breakfast to participants. Walkers who raise over $500, will receive a catered breakfast in the VIP tent. Also, water will be provided along the route.
There will be a survivor tent in all the locations. This is the place where participants can talk with those who survived a heart attack or stroke. The survivor area will provide red hats for the heart disease survivors and white hats for stroke survivors. Be prepared to hear some amazing recovery stories from these survivors.
The American Heart Association mission is to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans and reduce death from cardiovascular disease and stroke. The AHA provides low cost CPR and First-aid certification training classes throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The CPR certification classes cover adult CPR, child CPR, infant CPR, chokesaving, and how to use a defibrillator. During the First-aid training students learn how to control bleeding, how to use an EPI pen, bandaging, snake & spider bites, and other life threatening emergencies.
